What changed in Washington? Episode 1

In the series what changes in Washington, Obama has signed a directive that aims to differentiate itself from certain acts within the Bush administration, that distort or suppress scientific information in areas such as contraception, air quality, global warming caused by human or endangered species.

At first glance it may seem surprising must reaffirm these principles so strongly. But brace yourselves, the Committee on Government Reform House of Representatives issued a report in 2007 documenting a systematic effort of the White House to censor climate scientists by controlling their access to the press and by altering testimony given before Congress! No you're not dreaming! I think it's called censorship right? For the lesson of democracy is missing!

is why Obama gives 120 days to the director of "Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) to recommend a plan of action to:
- prevent that government employees remove or alter scientific results.
- give public access to scientific information developed and used by the federal government.
- ensuring transparency in the preparation, identification and use of scientific information in political decision making.
- based appointments to scientific positions in the executive branch on the knowledge, skills, experience and integrity of the winners.
- ensure that scientific information taken into account in political decisions are the subject of a well-established scientific process including if a peer review.
- Establish procedures to identify opportunities where the process scientific or technological information is compromised as well as mechanisms of protection for those who expose violations.

I let you measure, through this example, what were actually the Bush years.
Each day sees the Obama team tackle problems head on health, education, personal property bankeroute, climate change ... it's exciting, how far will he leave or does it go? That Is The Question (you see my progress in English I hope.
